Personally, I think that a lot of people around the world managed to watch the series called ‘The Magnificent Century’, because at a certain point it became so popular that you could hear about it even walking down the street. Maybe it gained such a wide fame due to the large viewings around the world?
It was quite interesting for the audience to watch this masterpiece of cinematography, because there were a lot of interesting moments. The scenery was simply amazing, the costumers also tried hard to convey to the audience the whole atmosphere of the series. The cast impressed the audience no less. During Roxolana’s relationship with the Sultan, the audience always watched with great interest how everything developed. Sometimes people had to literally abandon their cases to watch a new series of this series, as the plot was fascinating for many.
This series told about life in historical times, when the rules of life were quite different, so most likely the viewers are really so interesting to watch what is happening. The modern interpretation had a great impact on the viewers. Except that while watching this masterpiece, we still managed to notice that there are many film bloopers, to which people for some reason simply did not pay attention, although they were strongly noticeable. How did this happen? Perhaps you also want to look at them?
Actors’ outfits. You probably noticed that the girls in most cases went in luxurious dresses, which in our time are often put on only on holidays. Roksolana in this situation had the most varieties of such outfits. Surprisingly, but the audience did not care that many of the images of Roksolana did not correspond to that time, because in the Middle Ages people wore different clothes. This series tells about the Ottoman Empire, when women constantly had to wear very closed clothes, so as not to attract the attention of people from the outside. Moreover, no woman had the right to bare cleavage, even if she was a very status person. In addition, women had to wear very closed clothes. But what confused me more in this situation was that some of the actresses were wearing the same jewellery, as if they were sharing it with each other. Doesn’t that seem suspicious to you?
Harems. Thanks to this series, you are most likely very aware of the fact that Roxolana had to be in the harem of another sultan at some point in her life before Suleiman ascended to his throne. Watching this film, you get the impression that the heroine originally managed to get to Suleiman, not his predecessor.
Banquets. The Sultan was in the habit of always eating with his loved ones, so he never ate alone. In addition, there were always servants around him, who regularly had to bring certain dishes or water to the table. During the filming on the masses decided to save money, believing that the audience will not pay much attention to it. It is also important to know that people did not immediately eat everything during the meal, but gradually moved on to more significant dishes. The servants brought most of the dishes to the table at once, rather than doing everything one at a time as they should have done.
The arrangement of furniture in the palace. Perhaps you have not paid much attention to the way the palace of the sultan looks, but you should look at the appearance of the curtains. I think you have already heard about the decorated versions of the decorations that were used during the filming. The most interesting thing is that at that time they decided to decorate the palace with drapery, pompoms and lambrequins. In fact, in ancient times, no one practically used curtains and many people did not even know about their existence, so large windows had to be most often covered with huge towels. Moreover, the tables were not spread all over the rooms and they were placed in most cases in the dining room. Surprisingly, during the filming of the series, no one took this feature into account.
Rivals. Many people knew about this film gaffe, and in any case, it was bound to catch everyone’s eye. The main heroine Suleiman loved more than all the other concubines who served him. Until the end of his days, the sultan swore in love exclusively to Hürrem, because she was quite an unusual woman. Surprisingly, at the same time, the protagonist was very jealous, believing that Suleyman had no right to let other women near him, so she got rid of other girls in the palace with her own ways.
The peculiarity of the fleets. Most of the state issues in this series were solved through intermediaries, and Suleiman himself did not want to interfere in these matters, especially the fleet in reality the sultan had a much smaller fleet, because during filming, it was described as the largest, which is not true, as the audience thought.
Confused names. The Sultan kept referring to Hürrem as ‘Haseki Sultan’. In reality, such a word never existed, but for Suleiman it was extremely important because it was made up to call his favourite woman. Except that in the series one discrepancy is noticeable, because at that time Suleiman called Mustafa’s mother so.
How Valide died. Suleyman’s mum could actually have died late, because if you delve into the story, you’ll realise that the woman was poisoned, and so she would have lived happily into old age. Moreover, this woman in no way knew Slavic languages, but in the series we are shown the opposite.
Childbirth. For some reason, the subject of inheritance was never seriously touched upon in this film. In fact, the Sultan had a lot of children who sought to take his throne, but just watching this series, it seems that Suleiman never had more than ten children. Some died almost immediately after birth, but apparently the director did not want to touch on this subject.
The appearance of Isabella. Going deeper into the story, one can safely accept the fact that this princess would have succeeded in taking the place of the Sultan’s grandmother, not a young girl.
What do you think of all the bloopers in the show? Did you pay attention to them while watching?
