Not long after their wedding, there were no happier people in the world than Emma and Justin Cotillard from the UK. For two months they were about to travel the world, enjoying life and their new status. What they didn’t even realise was that it was something truly awful….
One morning something strange happened: when Emma walked into their room, Justin yelled for her to come out. He simply didn’t recognise his spouse, who was carrying their baby under her heart for seven months.
That was the end of the honeymoon. The couple returned home and immediately went to the hospital. After an MRI scan, it was revealed that Justin was suffering from the most aggressive and deadly brain tumour.
Doctors said that with the best of luck, surgery and the use of chemotherapy, the man would be able to live for a maximum of 2 years.
Due to stress, Emma gave birth 5 weeks prematurely, but little Mia was fine. The same day Justin started chemotherapy.
After 4 months, tests showed that Justin’s tumour had grown and ‘metastasised’. This was the most aggressive cancer Justin’s doctors had encountered in the last 10 years of practice. In October 2015, doctors said Justin had about two weeks to live and advised them to take him home.
However, contrary to prognosis, Justin was able to live another 7 months. During this time, he celebrated his 30th birthday. But before he died, he really wanted to see his daughter one last time.
The little girl had chicken pox and could not be brought in. When finally Justin was told that Mia was on her way, he died happy that his baby girl was healthy.
After her death, Emma started spending a lot of time giving to various organisations that fight cancer. She wants as many people as possible to be saved from this disease, because the earlier it is detected, the better the chances of survival.
Now the woman says that even before the wedding she noticed Justin’s strange behaviour, which indicated his illness. But then everything was written off as excitement before the wedding. In addition, Emma noticed in the wedding photos that one of the cheeks of her husband a little sagging. This is also a sign of illness.
We can only hope that Emma can help many people detect the disease as early as possible to manage it.
