Anna Kournikova is back in the spotlight after Spanish magazine Hola! reported that she is expecting her fourth child with husband Enrique Iglesias. The former athlete gave up tennis long ago to focus on her family, and although the couple traditionally tries to keep their private life out of the public eye, this time the changes were noticed earlier. In August, Anna was photographed in Miami with her children: her loose-fitting clothes aroused suspicion. Confirmation soon followed — the pregnancy is proceeding without complications, and the baby is expected to be born towards the end of the year.

Kournikova and Iglesias’ relationship spans more than two decades. They met in 2001 on the set of the music video for Escape, where a kiss in the script turned into a romance. Sceptics did not believe in the longevity of the union, but the couple has been together for twenty years. The wedding was held in secret, and only after some time did even their close friends and family find out about it.

They became parents in 2017 with the birth of twins Nicholas and Lucy. The information only became known after the fact. In 2020, the family welcomed a daughter, Masha, whose name is a reference to Anna’s Russian heritage. Now the couple is expecting another child.

Kournikova leads a private life, rarely appears in public and hardly ever shares anything personal on social media. Her home in Miami has become the centre of her life, and photos of her children or family are extremely rare and always shared in small doses. This approach sets the couple apart from most public families.

Despite periodic rumours of breakups and quarrels, the relationship remains stable. Iglesias sometimes fuelled the rumours with ambiguous statements, but time has proven them to be unfounded. The couple prefers to ignore speculation and build their life away from the cameras.

Anna is currently around four to five months pregnant. She was recently spotted wearing orthopaedic shoes, which turned out to be the result of a minor foot injury. The singer’s mother explained that there is no threat to her health.

The secret to the strength of their union lies in the fact that the couple almost never discuss their personal life in public. They do not turn their family into a media project, which allows them to maintain intimacy and security.

The expected birth of their fourth child will be an important event, but fans are unlikely to see reports from the maternity hospital or lengthy interviews. Kournikova and Iglesias consistently maintain their distance, showing that happiness can be built away from the stage and sport, in the quiet of their own home.

Their story shows one form of motherhood: joy multiplied by the number of children’s voices. Unlike fates where motherhood becomes a constant struggle, as in Russian families where parents raise children with severe disabilities, Kournikova’s example highlights another dimension of this role. But one thing unites these different stories: motherhood has no universal scenarios; it always requires strength and love, manifested in many different forms.
