Lilia Guadalupe Mendiola Mayares, better known as Lin May, was born in Acapulco, Mexico, in 1952. Her early life was marked by financial hardships that forced her to take on various jobs to feed her family. Despite these difficulties, she possessed a unique charm that attracted the attention of others.
After a tumultuous relationship with an American sailor, Lin began a new chapter of life in Mexico City. She began her career as a dancer in Acapulco, where she soon became recognised for her unique style. Her growing popularity led her to popular television shows and burlesque performances.
Lin’s breakthrough came in the 70s and 80s with her roles in Ficheras films. Her mesmerising roles and unmistakable charisma earned her the title ‘Lin Mei: Goddess of Love’. However, as the popularity of these films waned, her fame faded.
A tragic event occurred in her pursuit of beauty. After a botched cosmetic procedure, she was left with unaesthetic bumps on her face. Although she underwent several surgeries, the effects of the procedure remained visible and became a constant reminder of her quest for perfection.
Today, Lin Mei is still regarded as a charming and resilient figure.
