The arrival of a baby is always a cause for celebration, especially when it’s time to meet them face to face after months of waiting.
Babies often surprise us with their unique features, from a head full of hair to adorable dimples. But perhaps the most surprising twist happens when a baby looks nothing like its parents.

That’s what happened to one family whose story went viral, sparking curiosity and speculation online. Keep reading to find out how it all happened….
Rachel, a cashier at Celina 52 Truck Stop in Tennessee, gave birth to her son Cash Jamal Bachman on 17 February 2024.
However, what caught people’s attention was the fact that Rachel and her fiancé, Paul Buckman, are both white, while Cash appears to be black.
The cashier shared a photo of the happy family on Facebook, congratulating Rachel on the addition.
‘Congratulations to our cashier Rachel and her fiancé Paul Buckman on the birth of baby Cash Jamal Buckman on Saturday at 6:18pm,’ the post read.
However, instead of well wishes, the post garnered comments questioning Cash’s paternity, with some suggesting that Paul may not be the biological father.

In response to these speculations, Celina 52 Truck Stop edited her post, adding, ‘Yes, Paul is the father. Rachel has African-American DNA in her, which can be passed down from generation to generation and result in the birth of a child with darker skin.’
They also mentioned that Cash may have jaundice, a common condition in newborns, and ended the post by saying, ‘Please be kind.’ ‘Please be kind.’
Jaundice is a common condition in newborns that can be treated with an incubator (pictured).
Despite the bus station’s explanation, doubts and jokes continued to appear online.
One person wrote: ‘Congratulations!!! I’m pretty sure he looks like his dad. Where is he?’.
Another added: ‘Definitely need a DNA test; what if they accidentally mixed up the kids in the nursery?’.
Meanwhile, some people expressed sympathy for Paul, with one user commenting, ‘I feel sorry for Paul, being duped like this is a new level of nastiness. I hope he comes to his senses.’
Rachel then decided to take matters into her own hands and posted on Facebook the results of an alleged DNA test to prove her origins.

‘For the haters saying I don’t have black DNA, maybe this will clear things up, straight from my ancestors DNA results !!!!. Now stop slandering my name and my [fiancé] Paul Bachman’s name. He is Lil Cash’s father,’ she wrote.
However, the jokes didn’t subside, with many mocking the situation and questioning the validity of the test results.
‘This is the strongest 1% I’ve ever seen… looks like a job for Maury,’ someone commented.
Another user with similar DNA added: ‘I have it too… and both my children still look Irish, like boiled potatoes.’
The story quickly gained momentum on social media, with thousands of people sharing their opinions and reactions. Tick-tockers also joined the discussion, adding their own humorous versions of the situation.
While the speculation continued, Celina 52 Truck Stop announced that it would be conducting polygraph and DNA tests on its employees. This news only added fuel to the fire, and many eagerly awaited the results of the investigation.

Then, on March 24, Celina 52 Truck Stop posted its ‘Final Statement on the Paternity of Cash Jamal Bookman’ on Facebook.
The post was direct and definitive – an attempt to put an end to the simmering rumours and speculation once and for all. According to Rachel, DNA results from the Steve Wilkos Show confirmed that Paul Bachman is not the biological father of Kash Jamal.
Rachel claims to have been faithful to Paul and states that Cash was conceived with her ex-boyfriend in 2021. She believes his DNA remained dormant until 2023, when she contracted Covid, causing the DNA to activate and her pregnancy to occur.
Despite this revelation, Paul decided to stay with Rachel and raise Cash as his own, believing that this news would only strengthen their bond.
On 27 February 2024, Rachel resigned from her position as a cashier at Truck Stop, receiving $100 as severance pay.

At the end of the Celina 52 Truck Stop press release it says, ‘As Maury Povich would say, “Paul, you are NOT a father, but you are a father.”’
