Crouzon syndrome is a genetic disorder in which premature fusion of the skull bones leads to deformation of the brain and facial parts of the skull. The only way to change a person’s face is through surgery. This boy is an example of how the face can be restored.

With age, patients experience increased strabismus, deafness and blindness. Patients almost always become disabled, and mental retardation can also be a cause of disability. However, with proper and timely treatment, many patients live to old age. There is no known prevention for Crouzon syndrome.
