Johnny Quinn himself comes from America. He had to go through a real nightmare at a very young age. That day he was playing in a barn, and the dog accidentally knocked over a candle – the wooden building quickly burst into flames.
The fire engulfed the entire area, so the shed literally became a death trap. Because of the smoke, the boy couldn’t see anything, and the flames literally guarded his skin. Johnny screamed at first, but then his strength ran out.
Fortunately, his older sister heard her brother and rushed to save him. Despite the fact that it was very dangerous in the barn, she made her way to Johnny and pulled him out.
Had there been a few more seconds of being in the fire, the doctors would not have saved the baby anymore. Johnny had really really bad burns, so the medics were not giving any chances. That’s when the fight for life and recovery began.
The next years of his life were very hard. The boy underwent 80 operations, which brought him a lot of pain and suffering. Every day was a test of strength and will to survive.
Dressings and skin grafts became literally a part of his life. It was very hard for him to accept himself and get used to the fact that his physical appearance was different.

Johnny constantly avoided himself and considered himself a monster. He was ashamed of his own reflection, so he did not look in the mirror at all.
However, at the age of ten, his outlook changed dramatically. He realised that he had to accept and love himself in order to live a full life. Gradually, the guy learnt to accept his uniqueness and no longer look back into the past.
Johnny was no longer going to hide and get discouraged. The young man began to act decisively and entered college. He got a lot of acquaintances, and he also worked with a psychologist.
Soon he became a member of an organisation that helps people adapt in society. It includes people with all kinds of psychological and physical disabilities.
For Johnny, this was just the beginning. He wanted to become a model and achieved his goal. He shows by his example that beauty can be different, and the outer shell does not always reflect the inner world.
