My name is Priya, and for a long time I thought I had everything under control.
I had a successful career, a strong circle of friends and a supportive family.

My life was far from perfect, but it was mine, and I was proud of it.
And then there was Ayesha, a person who at first glance seemed like the perfect addition to my social circle.
I never imagined she would try to steal everything I had.
I met Ayesha at a work event.
She was new to the industry and I was asked to be her mentor.
I didn’t give it much thought at first.
She was charming, ambitious and had a knack for approaching people in a way that was hard to ignore.
We became fast friends and soon started meeting outside of work – having coffee, attending events together and even spending time with mutual friends.
She was easy to like.
But there was something about her that always seemed a little unnatural.
She had a way of inserting herself into conversations and situations in such a way that it looked like she was overshadowing everyone, while doing nothing overtly.

It was only when I introduced her to my boyfriend Rohit that I started noticing her true intentions.
Rohit and I had been dating for over a year, and although we hadn’t talked about marriage yet, we were good together.
We had a stable, trusting relationship and I had no reason to doubt his fidelity.
At least until Ayesha came into our lives.
It seemed innocent at first.
She asked me about our relationship in casual conversations, sometimes with seemingly genuine curiosity.
But soon the questions became more personal, more penetrating.
She told me how lucky I was to have a man like Rohit, and how she wished she could meet someone who would treat her the way he treated me.
At first it seemed like a compliment, but deep down I felt something was wrong.
And then one night when I was out with my friends and Rohit stayed home to work, I received a text from him that shook me to the core.
It was just a short message, ‘I saw Ayesha today. I don’t think we should communicate with her anymore.’
Puzzled, I immediately called him.
When I asked what happened, he blurted out.

‘She… she kissed me, Priya. It wasn’t planned. It just happened. I’m sorry.’
My breath caught.
I couldn’t believe my ears.
Ayesha, my so-called friend, had crossed the line and Rohit – my boyfriend, the man I trusted – had let it happen.
The betrayal was so painful that I couldn’t find the words.
I didn’t know what hurt me more: Ayesha’s act or Rohit’s lack of boundaries.
The next morning, I confronted Ayesha.
At first she denied everything, but when I laid out all the facts to her, she couldn’t get out of it.
She admitted that she had kissed Rohit, but claimed it was nothing – just a momentary weakness.
She apologised, but the damage had already been done.
I told her that I needed space and that I would never be able to look at her the same way again.
Soon after that, I broke up with Rohit.
I couldn’t trust him anymore, and the wound was too deep to heal.
But as I moved on, trying to put that painful period behind me, Ayesha’s actions didn’t stop.
She seemed to think she could just walk into my life and take what belonged to me without any repercussions.
It wasn’t just about the betrayal with Rohit – it was about everything that happened afterwards.
Ayesha started trying to take my place in the social circles I was in.
She infiltrated every conversation, showed up at all the events I had once loved, and did so with such self-assurance that I felt insignificant.

She seemed to think she could replace me, take my place in every way and appropriate what I had worked so hard for.
But Ayesha didn’t realise that karma always rebalances, especially when people cross the line.
I devoted the next few months to myself.
I fully immersed myself in my work, returned to hobbies I had abandoned, and surrounded myself with people who really appreciated me.
Meanwhile, Ayesha’s behaviour continued, but I started to notice little cracks in her perfectly crafted image.
People started talking.
She went from being the charming and cheerful girl I once admired to someone who is constantly competitive, craving attention and making others around her feel uncomfortable.
Soon rumours began to spread – about her manipulations at work, how she was always finding ways to take credit for other people’s work.
It didn’t take long before people began to realise that Ayesha wasn’t the innocent girl she claimed to be.
And it became clear that her actions were catching up with her.
The final blow came when I learnt that Ayesha had tried to interfere in my close friend Neha’s relationship.

Neha had been dating her boyfriend for a few years now and Ayesha was again trying to meddle in their relationship, pretending to be a friend giving advice but actually undermining their bond.
Neha found out about this and came face to face with Ayesha.
Just like with Rohit, Ayesha denied everything at first.
But the truth was too obvious to ignore.
Eventually Ayesha was left alone, facing the consequences of her actions.
People she once considered friends turned their backs on her, unable to forgive the hurt she had caused.
As the rumours grew louder, her carefully built reputation crumbled.
People began to see her for what she really was – a person who used others for her own gain, without a shred of regret for the harm she had caused.
As for me, I knew Ayesha was finished.
I let her into my life, trusted her and loved her as a friend.
But I realised that there are people who will stop at nothing to take what doesn’t belong to them, and it’s up to us to let them.

As always, karma set things right.
Ayesha thought she could steal my life – take my boyfriend, my friends, my place in the world.
But in the end, she was the one who lost everything.
And I was the one who got stronger.
And while I couldn’t erase the pain she had caused, I realised that the best revenge was to just move on and let life put everything in its place.
