Night came. The sky was full of stars. But Ella couldn’t sleep. Her friend’s words just wouldn’t leave her head. What if Nika was right? Dmitri, of course, did not give reason for doubt, but lately he really too often goes on business trips. And he treated his wife strangely, as if he didn’t miss her at all.
Ella was distracted from her thoughts by a phone call. She hoped it was her husband. Probably he wanted to tell her that he’d made it.
It was Timofey. A friend of the family. Or rather, a school friend of Ella’s. Only Dima was against his wife keeping close contact with him. Because of her husband’s jealousy, Ella kept in touch with her close friend only by phone.

The late call from Timofey alarmed Ella. She realised that people don’t just call at such times.

Gerda was Timofey’s dog. She was already of age. Ella had known her since she was a puppy, because the animal was serviced at their veterinary clinic. It was she who found her on the street, but she couldn’t take her in. Her husband was against it. But Timofey gave the puppy a happy life. Dima did not like animals at all. He wouldn’t even kiss his wife after work until she had showered, because he could smell the dogs on her.

The woman decided to call her husband and warn him. She realised that he could call at home, and she would not be at home. However, Dima’s number was out of range. Ella sighed heavily and rushed to save the animal. There was simply no other way out.
Gerda looked painful. However, after the first drip she became cheerful. Still, age takes its toll. Ella recommended that Timothy undergo a course of treatment.
After that, Ella decided to have coffee with Timofey. She didn’t see anything wrong with that. All the more reason to monitor Gerda’s condition for at least an hour. While Timofey was in the kitchen, the woman was scrolling through her social media feed. And then a photo of her husband with another woman popped up. And the caption ‘Resting with my beloved.’ How is that possible? Her heart just jumped out of her chest at that moment. Ella went to the page of the woman who had marked Dima in the photo.
Why are you so pale? – Timofey came into the room.
Do you think it could be photoshop? – Ella showed him the photo.

Ella just nodded her head. Then she told me that her husband had gone away, supposedly on a business trip. He didn’t answer his phone calls. Only late in the evening he sent a message that he had got there.

There were a million questions in Ella’s mind and not one answer. Timofey saw that she was in a terrible emotional state and it was not advisable to drive, but Ella did not want to stay the night. As soon as she sent the message, she immediately regretted it, but it was too late. The woman did not wait for a reply – she fell asleep. In the morning she woke up to a call from Dmitry. He spoke as if nothing had happened and complained that a lot of work had accumulated, so they would not be able to call each other often.
After breakfast Ella decided to go to Timofey’s to give Gerda a new drip. It was the clinic’s day off today, so no one else would do it. Timofey replied that the dog was already better, but it was necessary to finish the course of treatment.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Ella received a message from Margot:
“Thanks for the compliment. We have been on holiday recently, but we have been together for six months. I am glad to meet you. I’ve been asking Dima to introduce me to my older sister for a long time, but for some reason he was in no hurry. It’s great that you wrote it yourself.”
With your sister? That’s interesting. Is it okay that Ella is five years younger than her husband? Why is she suddenly an older sister? She advised Margarita to look in Dmitry’s passport to find out his date of birth and marital status. At that moment, tears sprang from her eyes. Her heart clenched to the point of pain. While Dimitri went to the spa, Margo found his passport on her own. She’d never thought of checking something like that before. Tears also sprang from Margarita’s eyes. She hadn’t realised that holidays held such surprises for her.
It was the first time she had met a man she loved with all her soul. And he’s married! How could he deceive her? It turns out that he, like everyone else, was only there for the money. Margarita wrote to Ella that she didn’t know about Dima’s marital status. She apologised to her and asked her not to tell her husband anything yet. She wanted to punish him and leave him with nothing so that he would realise his mistake.

Margarita was tired of being hunted for her money. She was a self-sufficient and well-off woman, and many people took advantage of that. And she also had a doll-like appearance – it was impossible not to fall in love with her. But there was no happiness for women.

One day Dima caught up with Ella outside her work. He demanded an explanation from her, but the woman would not talk to him. When her husband saw her getting into the car, he started yelling:
