It’s not often you see him like this.
Richard Gere is now 76, but in a new photo shared by his wife, he looks completely at ease and happy — surrounded by his sons and far from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. This snapshot, posted by 43-year-old Alejandra Silva, immediately caught people’s attention, as the couple very rarely share their private life with the public.
In the photograph, the couple are standing with their three sons. The children’s faces are carefully obscured — the family has long maintained this boundary and does not allow anyone to intrude on their children’s privacy. Yet even so, the warmth and closeness felt in the shot are impossible to miss.
Alexandra chose a bright red dress, whilst Gir looked relaxed yet elegant in a light-coloured shirt. This was no red-carpet appearance. The photo turned out to be personal — understated, yet very intimate.
Silva accompanied the post with a belated Valentine’s Day message. “Happy Valentine’s Day from our little team! I am immensely grateful to my sons and my husband — the man who crossed the ocean to be with us. I love you all endlessly,” she wrote.
Gir and Silva have four children between them. The actor’s eldest son, Homer James, was born in 2002, when Richard was married to actress Carey Lowell. Silva, for her part, has a son, Albert, who was born in 2012 during her marriage to mining industry businessman Govind Friedland.
Following their wedding in April 2018, Gir welcomed Albert into the family. The couple also have two younger sons together: seven-year-old Alexander and five-year-old James.
It is a large family that has brought together the past, distance and an age gap, but in this photo everything looks much simpler — a father standing alongside his children.
