Not for nothing is it said that the bond between identical twins is very strong, to the point where they can feel the same way

Two brothers and two sisters who lived according to the laws of symmetry experienced an unusual coincidence of destinies that changed their lives. Alexander and Benedict, twin brothers, met sisters Maria and Anna at a scientific conference where they immediately noticed the harmony in their interactions. Alexander and Maria, Benedict and Anna – their dating developed almost mirror-like, with synchronised gestures and laughter. A few months later, both brothers made identical marriage proposals to the girls in the botanical garden, and the couples decided to play their weddings on the same day. Their ceremony was also double: identical suits and dresses, double vows and first dance.

After the wedding, the couples settled in the neighbourhood, in identical houses, leading almost identical lives. Soon both sisters were pregnant, and the joy of this news was shared not only by the girls, but also by their husbands. A year later, an ultrasound scan revealed that both sisters were expecting twins – it caused the family shock, but also immense joy. Preparation for the birth went with maximum synchrony: the same cots, nappies, even gifts for baby shower.

When the time came to give birth, Maria and Anna found themselves in neighbouring wards of the maternity hospital, and a few hours later they gave birth to girls. Maria gave birth to Sofia and Snezhana, and Anna to Serafima and Stefania. The babies immediately became inseparable, with identical appearance and behaviour, which further reinforced the impression of symmetry in their lives. Despite the fact that they were cousins, genetically the girls turned out to be almost full sisters.

The children were brought up to the same standards: the same schedule, toys, activities and entertainment. Even in kindergarten teachers could not distinguish who was whose daughter, because the girls were like two drops of water similar to each other. Holidays for them became double – two cakes, two sets of gifts, two photo albums. Relatives, delighted by this coincidence, jokingly suggested creating a family crest with mirror wings.

When the girls grew up, scientists became interested in their unique genetic phenomenon. Finding themselves at the centre of the scientific community’s attention, the family participated in various studies and were invited to the university’s genetic clinic. Scientists confirmed that children from identical twins were genetically similar as siblings, which attracted media attention and even became the subject of a documentary film, Living in the Mirror.

Over time, the girls began to strive for individuality, choosing different hobbies and even schools, but their bond remained just as strong. The family continued to live in harmony, respecting everyone’s personal boundaries but always maintaining a deep unity.
