Kim Kardashian was studded with diamonds on her first ever trip to India – until one of them mysteriously disappeared.
What happened next caused people to react, sparking outrage online.
Failed to bring the fictional Disney town to life
Kim Kardashian needs no introduction, and she never fails to make headlines wherever she appears. When she and her sister Khloe travelled to India for Anant Ambani’s wedding last July, they expected a magical experience straight out of Disney’s Aladdin, but they were in for a surprise.
The sisters assumed the bustling markets they would visit would be similar to those in the 1992 animated film, set in the fictional city of Agrabah. But Kim quickly realised that the reality was not quite what she had imagined.
‘I thought it would be like the marketplace,’ Kim admitted. ‘And it’s like the streets.’
She went on to explain, ‘The one where you see Aladdin walking through and stealing bread. That’s where I thought we were going to go.’

Despite initial expectations, it was clear that the sisters were in for an even more unexpected adventure in India – and when it came time to head to the wedding, things took a dramatic turn.
Kim and her sister Khloe Kardashian attended the lavish wedding of billionaire heir Anant Ambani and his fiancée Radhika Merchant on the 13 March episode of The Kardashians.
The reality stars wore over 1,000 carats of diamond, emerald and pearl jewellery from their longtime friend and jewellery designer Lorraine Schwartz in Los Angeles.
But things went south when Kim realised one diamond from her necklace was missing. As she and Khloe frantically searched the floor, Kim could be heard exclaiming: ‘I was just like, ‘Oh my God. I’m going to have to pay for this.’
The two were seen panicking amidst the glamorous wedding, which was attended by celebrities such as Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra and John Cena.
Despite the tension, Kim and Khloe couldn’t resist posing for photos as the search for the missing diamond continued. Kim tried to reassure viewers, saying: ‘Don’t get us wrong, we are absolutely concerned about the fate of the diamond.’
Netizens were quick to respond.
But the situation soon backfired as they walked past ‘amazing photo opportunities,’ leading many to comment that her priorities seemed to have gone a little off.
Netizens were quick to react, with many wryly remarking, ‘Lost it or stole it?’. Some fans noted that this wasn’t the first time Kim had lost an expensive piece of jewellery.
One person joked, ‘Poor lady, let’s fund her,’ while others noted, ‘Overworked storyline. She loses diamonds all the time.’ And one person wrote that she did it on purpose to steal the limelight.
This isn’t the first time Kim’s relationship with diamonds has made headlines. In 2011, a similar situation occurred when she lost a diamond earring in the ocean while on holiday in Bora Bora, which was one of the most memorable moments on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Since then, Kim has joked more than once that people still ask her about her lost earring when she’s by the water. In a 2023 interview, she claimed that Kylie Jenner even found the earring after diving into the ocean with her glasses on.
But despite the periodic drama surrounding her jewellery, Kim said she may never go back to buying expensive pieces after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in 2016.
In an interview with 2021, she revealed that she no longer has any expensive jewellery due to the trauma she suffered during a robbery when robbers carried away valuables worth about $10 million. ‘I just don’t live that kind of life,’ she shared. ‘Maybe we shouldn’t give her diamonds anymore,’ one social media user remarked after the latest incident.
Obviously, diamonds and Kim Kardashian have a complicated relationship, but the drama continues to be exciting as always.
