She was born into a family deeply rooted in the world of show business: her mother, the legendary Janet Leigh, played an iconic role in Psycho. Al-Alfred Hitchcock, and her father, Tony Curtis, was a Hollywood star who acted in numerous successful films.
Although Jamie Lee Curtis initially enrolled at the Pacific Institute for Law School, her fate was tied to her acting career, and she soon left her studies.
Her breakthrough came when she landed a role in Halloween .A film that changed her life forever. After this success, she was dubbed ‘scream queen’, and Comedy Swapped (1983) proved that she can play brilliantly not only in horror films, but also in the comedy genre.
During her career, Curtis has performed many diverse roles and won many awards, including a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award for Anything Else .
Personal life
As well as her work in films, 66-year-old Curtis has also proved herself as a successful children’s book author. Today I feel silly and tell me again the night I was born .
The actress has been married to Christopher Guest since 1984 – the couple have two adopted children. Curtis has always been a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, and her youngest daughter Ruby Gest came out as transgender in 2021.
In 2022, Curtis personally officiated the wedding of Ruby and her partner Kinty, who was dressed in a World of Warcraft costume .
Curtis is also an advocate for fighting addictions, as she herself has managed to achieve 25 years of total sobriety.

After she turned 65, Curtis posted selfies on Instagram that showed off her legs. The confident pose and choice of clothing – black shorts – symbolised more than just a fashion statement; it was her contribution to promoting body positivity at any age.
