Richard wasn’t going on a business trip – he was planning a romantic trip with Carol. Mila’s emotions began to boil over, but she maintained her professional facade.

‘How nice,’ she managed to say, her voice steady despite the anger and betrayal she felt. She couldn’t let Carol sense that anything was wrong.
By the end of the tour, Carol was satisfied and signed the lease without hesitation. Mila handed over the keys, her face was calm but thoughts of revenge were swarming in her mind.
When Carol left, Mila slipped the spare key into her pocket. A plan was already taking shape. She wasn’t going to let this betrayal go unchecked – Richard and Carol had a weekend ahead of them that they would never forget.
On the drive home, Mila couldn’t shake the rage building up inside her, but she knew she had to stay calm. She needed to play her part convincingly, so she dialled Richard’s number, making her voice sound sweet, making her stomach rumble.

‘Hey, are you coming home today?’ – She asked, playing the caring wife. Her heart was racing as she waited for his answer, and she was getting angrier by the second.
‘No,’ Richard replied, his tone detached and cold. ‘I’m on my way out of town. I’ll see you on Monday.’
Mila gripped the steering wheel tighter as she listened to his lies and barely contained the rage bubbling beneath her calm exterior.
Richard had lied to her face without thinking, and it had hurt her more than she’d expected. How easily he had brushed her off. But now she knew the truth, and it was her turn to act.

She wasn’t going to cry or beg for answers. She had something far more satisfying planned.
‘Okay, have a safe trip,’ she said with forced warmth before hanging up. The moment the call ended, her hands trembled, but not from sadness, but from the anger that bubbled in her veins.
The betrayal was real, and Mila was tired of playing the role of the gullible, naive wife.
Later that evening, she sat in the living room and dialled another number.
This time her voice was calm, but filled with a new determination. She wasn’t just playing anymore – this was her plan put into action.

‘All set,’ Mila said calmly into the receiver. ‘We’ll meet you there at eight o’clock tonight.’
The man on the other end agreed without hesitation, and Mila smiled for the first time since that morning.
A wave of power came over her. It wasn’t just about catching Richard in the act; it was about making him pay for what he’d done.
She hung up the phone and stood up from the couch, her thoughts clear and focused. She was going to face Richard and Carol today, but not in the way they expected.

It was time for them to experience the consequences of their betrayal, and Mila was ready to make sure this was a night they would never forget. Mila pulled up to the flat at eight o’clock sharp, her heart was racing but her expression was calm.
Standing next to her was Carol’s boyfriend, a tall man with a vicious grin on his face.
His fists clenched as they quietly entered the flat, using the spare key Mila kept in her possession. The plan was ready, and Mila wasn’t about to back down.
The two of them crept along the corridor, the dim lighting making it feel unreal. As they approached the bedroom, the sounds of muffled conversation and laughter reached their ears. Mila’s stomach twisted, but she walked on, leading the man to the door.

The sight she saw made her blood boil. Richard and Carol lay in bed, oblivious to the storm brewing outside their bedroom door.
The silence was broken by a furious scream.
‘What the hell is going on here?’ growled Carol’s boyfriend, his voice echoing off the walls. His anger filled the room like a tidal wave, causing Carol to turn around sharply, her eyes widening in horror. She grabbed her head, trying to cover herself, and her face lost colour as she realised what was happening.
Richard, on the other hand, looked pale and shaken. His body trembled as he slid off the bed and fell to his knees in front of Mila. ‘I didn’t know!’ – Stammering, he said in a weak and desperate voice. ‘I didn’t mean for this to happen, I swear!’

But Richard’s pathetic pleas for forgiveness did not move Mila. On the contrary, they fuelled her sense of justice. Carol, who had once laughed and been light-hearted, now stood in disgust, lips curled, looking at Richard writhing on the floor.
The man she was cheating on stood silent, clenched fists and looking at her with a mixture of rage and disbelief.
Mila, unfazed and calm, stepped forward, keeping her eyes on Richard.
‘Oh, Richard,’ she began with a mocking smile, ’do you remember how you insisted on a prenuptial agreement? The one that said that if either of us cheated, we would have to pay the other a large sum of money when we divorced?’

Richard’s face turned as white as a sheet. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words wouldn’t come. Mila continued, her voice steady and firm. ‘Well, I’m sending you your things along with the divorce papers. It’s over.’
Without waiting for an answer, Mila turned on her heels, and the sound of her shoes was the only sound in the suddenly silent room.
Richard collapsed back onto the bed, shock and regret on his face as the weight of his action crushed him. Carol, who stood in stunned silence, avoided looking at him, her earlier bravado completely gone.
Mila walked out of the flat with her head held proudly high, feeling a sense of victory igniting inside her.

Not only had she uncovered Richard’s betrayal, but she had taken control of the situation, providing herself a stronger outlet while he was left to drown in his regret. Justice, she thought, had been served.
