Her dramatic transformation is causing quite a stir today: Can you guess what she looks like now?

Kelly Ripa recently revealed how she solved a last-minute problem with her Oscar dress. To fit into it comfortably, she tried her husband Mark Consuelos’s high-protein diet for three days. On the show Live with Kelly and Mark, she humorously described how zipping up the dress on the side was almost a crisis and nearly resulted in an unpleasant pinching of the skin. When it turned out that the dress didn’t fit quite as she’d hoped, Consuelos recommended that she adopt his strict diet for a few days—a regimen Kelly normally tends to avoid.

Although Kelly Ripa usually avoids her husband’s strict diet, this time she accepted the short-term challenge. For 72 hours, she followed a protein-rich meal plan that included steak, yogurt, and vegetables—foods she doesn’t usually reach for very often. She admitted that animal protein isn’t exactly her favorite choice, but she was thrilled with the result. After three days, the dress fit her perfectly. With a smile, she said she ate exactly as her husband recommended, and the dress buttoned up completely smoothly, without any trouble. She also added that, as a result, she looked very slim and great.

Mark Consuelos, a long-time advocate of a healthy lifestyle, emphasized on this occasion that protein intake alone is not enough and that it is important to ensure an adequate intake of fiber as well. According to him, fiber is essential for the proper functioning of the digestive system and can also help reduce the risk of certain long-term health problems, including diabetes. His recommendation aligns with official dietary guidelines, which state that adults should consume approximately 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories. In practice, this translates to roughly 22 to 28 grams per day for women and about 28 to 34 grams for men, depending on age.

Although protein is important for maintaining muscle mass, proper immune function, and weight control, nutrition experts caution that it should not be overconsumed. Sports nutrition specialist Nancy Clark stated in an interview with Business Insider that athletes, in particular, often overestimate their protein intake because they believe that higher amounts automatically lead to bigger muscles. In reality, however, she says that carbohydrates play a key role in supplying muscles with the energy they need. If a person places too much emphasis on protein alone, they may actually limit their intake of other essential nutrients, particularly carbohydrates, which are necessary for performance, energy, and proper muscle function.

While Kelly Ripa’s rapid diet change served its purpose and helped her shine on the red carpet, it also sparks a broader discussion about nutrition, body image, and finding balance. Her story shows the pressure celebrities face before major social events and how such dietary changes often serve as short-term fixes rather than long-term solutions. Moreover, the whole situation offered a candid and lighthearted glimpse behind the scenes of preparations for gala evenings, which are often much more demanding than they may seem. At the same time, it served as a reminder that, in a fashion crisis, advice from a life partner can play an unexpectedly important role.
