Some criticised her swimming costume choice, with one user writing, ‘There comes a time when you shouldn’t wear any suits or shorts anymore.’

While others appreciated the actress and how good she looks for 78, they wrote: ‘This is an awesome photo! I hope when I’m 78 I can walk on the beach in a swimming costume and a tiny tee and not worry about what others think! 😊 I think shes beautiful!’.

Others were more upset by the negative comments: ‘Oh my god people, leave her alone. She looks great for her age. Full stop!’

She says, ‘Aging is a fact of life. Living wisely, you realise that there are a lot of transitions in life, [and] you just have to go through them,’ the star told People. ‘It’s great to know that you’re getting older because it means you’re still living on the planet, right?’

But she’s well aware that there’s a bias against age in the industry and among her fans.

‘Do you think you’re going to fight the system? Do you think you’re going to prove to Hollywood at 45 that you’re still a sexy, viable object? No. There’s a certain reality,’ Hawn told Bazaar. ‘Does it make me angry? No. I’m not an angry person. I’m not a belligerent person. Anger doesn’t get you anywhere. It’s not productive.’
