Gabriella Laberge wows the ‘AGT’ judges with her violin and angelic voice

One of the world’s most popular talent shows, America’s Got Talent, recently featured a familiar face to Eurovision fans. Gabriella Laberge, a French-Canadian singer and violinist competing at Destination Eurovision in France in 2019, had an exciting audition that captivated viewers and judges alike.

Before taking to the AGT stage, Gabriella shared her dreams in a video before her performance. ‘This is the opportunity of a lifetime,’ she said, ’to fulfil my biggest dream of making music for the rest of my life.’

The Quebec native then appeared with her violin and began the audition with a tender solo performance.

While judges Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum were clearly enamoured by her playing, Simon Cowell looked less interested. His hand hovered over a red buzzer, signalling his readiness to interrupt her performance. But Gabriella had a surprise up her sleeve.

Switching from playing to singing, Gabriella began a heartfelt rendition of James Blunt’s ‘Goodbye My Lover.’ Her angelic voice immediately caught Cowell’s attention, causing him to take his hand away from the buzzer.

The performance drew a standing ovation from the judges and audience, who were joined by Cowell himself. The judges voted unanimously in favour of her advancing to the next stage of the competition.

However, Gabriella’s journey on AGT is far from over. Her audition took place in the season eight episode finale.

More than 150 artists received votes in favour during the season, but only 36 can make it through to the live show. Fans will have to wait for the series to return after a three-week hiatus to find out if Gabriella will be among the finalists.

Gabriella began appearing on television in 2019 when she took part in the second season of French show Destination Eurovision. Her song ‘On cherche encore (Never Get Enough)’ became a fan favourite.

However, despite her popularity, she was eliminated from the competition at the semi-final stage. The contest was eventually won by Bilal Hassani with the song ‘Roi’.

Gabriella Laberge’s AGT audition marks a new chapter in her career, showcasing her talent to a global audience and reviving excitement amongst her Eurovision supporters.

Whether or not she makes it through to the live show, her heartfelt performance has already made a lasting impression on viewers and judges alike.
