On November 8, 1935, a boy was born who would later become one of the most influential men of the modern era.

Alain was born in a suburb of Paris, about 50 miles from the famous Notre Dame Cathedral. His mother worked as a pharmacist.
Later, when his father decided to open a movie theater, his mother joined him as a cashier.

However, Alain was only three years old when his parents divorced. Both of them started new families, so Alain grew up with half-siblings.
His stepfather was a butcher, and his mother worked alongside him. Since his parents were busy, Alain was entrusted to a nanny. Although he felt comfortable at first, as time went by, he increasingly felt that he was not really important to anyone.

He never excelled at school; in fact, he often got into trouble and was expelled several times, which meant he had to change schools frequently. Yet there was one thing he excelled at: his talent for music became apparent at an early age, he was particularly attracted to the piano, and he even won competitions. However, his enthusiasm did not last.
As a young man, he learned the butcher’s trade and worked in the profession for three months before finding a job in a shop.

He later enlisted in the army, and according to his memoirs, this period brought about a significant development in his personality. After his discharge, he worked as a waiter. It was then that he decided to try his luck in the film world – and he went to a series of auditions.
