In the middle of the night, they discovered that the pit bull that had just taken them in was chewing on their newborn baby’s cot. When they took a closer look at the infant and realised what the dog had done, they began to cry.
One family, the Robinsons, had a six-year-old boy, and when the wife became pregnant with their second child, they decided to move to a larger house in the countryside where they planned to build a farm. Before buying the house, they were not allowed to have a pet as they were renting a small flat, but now that they had their own property, they really wanted to get a dog.
They went around to different shelters to get a dog, and after listening to all the stories of how each animal got there, they came across a fearful pit bull named Benson.
Unfortunately, Benson’s life was not an easy one. He had been used for years for fighting and was eventually thrown out on the street. When volunteers found him, he had already lost trust in humans and was reluctant to pick up after himself. After some time at the shelter, he was taken in by a family, but his happiness only lasted two weeks. The family decided they didn’t want him as he was unfriendly.
On hearing this, Mrs Robinson decided she had to provide him with a better life. They adopted Benson, and despite his unusual behaviour at first, he quickly made friends with the baby Matthias.
When the baby was born, Benson simply expressed love and affection.
One night, however, the family heard loud barking coming from the nursery. They noticed that Benson was chewing on the sides of the cot and rushed to investigate. At first they feared the worst, believing that he wanted to harm the baby, but in fact it was quite the opposite. As it turned out, the infant had stopped breathing and Benson was trying to get it out.
The family took her to the hospital, where they were informed that if Benson didn’t inform them of the baby’s condition, she would surely die. Fortunately, this did not happen.
Mrs Robinson did not expect Benson to save her baby’s life in exchange for saving her own.
