Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas will celebrate their 17th wedding anniversary in November 2017.
When the two began dating, many people thought their relationship wouldn’t last, primely because of the age gap in 25 years.
“Until someone actually tells me he’s 25 years older, I don’t actually think about it,” says Catherine.
The actors married in 2000 and later welcomed two children, who are now 16 and 14 years old.
During these 17 years, the spouses have gone through a lot: separation, Michael was diagnosed with stage IV tongue cancer, and Catherine was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. However, they still managed to work everything out!
“It’s a long road, and I think people today are so quick to throw in the towel on marriage. You have to give it your best shot and not give up when the first problem arises, because that won’t be the last problem. There will be many more down the road,” commented Catherine on her marriage.
As for Mr. Douglas, he said: “Family gives me more purpose than any other thing in my life.”
Michael and Catherine have always been endlessly supportive of each other, which is probably the key to any lasting relationships.
