Yes, we’ve all been there – two days without a shower and you start to question your cleanliness. You look at your greasy hair, or perhaps you go for the extra mile and smell your armpit and you’re like: “Is it OK to go this long without taking a shower?” Let me share some wisdom with you.
So what can happen to your body if you don’t shower for 2 days?
1. Your skin has pristine conditions for germs and harmful bacteria
Depending on the “time off” you took from showering, germs and bacteria can become overgrown, build up on your skin and cause serious issues.
2. Various infections
Germs lead to issues, and issues lead to severe skin infections which leave nasty scars on your skin – primarily your face.
3. “Dermatitis Neglecta”
Imagine this: you just went for a run, came back all sweaty and greasy and decided NOT to take a shower. Just like that nasty run you just had, not showering causes dirt and sweat accumulation on your skin, too.
4. Nasty odor
Yes, man or woman, you’ve smelled your armpit. Two days in, that smell is not appealing, at all.
5. Possible skin reactions
With all that dirt on you, there is nothing your skin can do but react with scaliness, rashes and pimples. Nasty, acne boils that smell bad when they burst.
Of course, you don’t have to shower 3 times a day, that has adverse effects, too. Regular showering will prevent the build up of oils in the skin, especially after intensive workouts. Every doctor will tell you to listen to your skin and give it what it needs. Just like with everything else, there’s a pattern to it, you just have to figure it out.
