Golden Retriever Gives Birth To 9 Pups. But One In Particular Has Gone Viral Due To His Extremely Rare Colour

Any dog owner can tell you that one of the most stressful times for them is when their dog is in the process of birthing her babies. This particular one had a very big surprise for her owners.

A three-year-old Golden Retriever has just amazed everyone after she gave birth to a truly rare pup.

The dog named Rio gave birth to a litter of nine puppies which included a little green one. Because of his special and peculiar colour, the dog was named Forest.

Louise, his owner, told People that they were surprised to see Forest arrive covered in green fur. It was later discovered that this was truly rare and could have something to do with the placenta.

Experts have opined that this colouring was caused by an exposure to Biliverdin, a green bile pigment found in the placenta. It is possible that the bile can come in contact with the pup’s coat when mixed with the mum’s amniotic fluid.

Fortunately, the condition does not come with any worrisome health risks. It is also likely that the colour will be resolved on its own after a few weeks.
