Eminem is one of the world’s most famous hip-hop musicians. In fact, Slim Shady was the best-selling artist of the noughties. He gained worldwide fame for his fearless and often controversial lyrics – although he has definitely calmed down in recent years.
While rap isn’t to everyone’s taste, it’s hard to deny that Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, has a lot of talent. So much talent, in fact, that he was able to hide a hidden message in one of his songs that no one has noticed until now.
When a now 45-year-old Eminem first rose to fame, one of his most popular songs was ‘My Name Is’ – which was released in 1999 when he was still very much an up-and-coming star. In case you’ve forgotten the song, let me briefly remind you of its lyrics.
Hi! My name is (what?)
My name is (who?)
My name is Slim Shady
And so on and so forth…
Now, almost twenty years on from its initial release, a fan has discovered that the song contains a hidden message after deciding to play the rap backwards. It can be heard during the “My name is” chorus, they hear something bordering of genius from the rap star.
Check out the hidden message for yourself in the video below:

It may not sound like much – or even just a coincidence – but judging from how much of a masterful lyricist Eminem is, this very simple Easter Egg was probably planned from the moment he put pen to paper.
