Terri Irwin recently celebrated her birthday, and her daughter Bindi Irwin knew the perfect way to show appreciation for her mom.
The wife of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, Terri turned 53 on July 20, 2017. Bindi, who has always loved to post “throwback” Instagram photos showing her parents and brother on their many adventures, took to social media once again to share the love she has for her mom.
Bindi shared a big batch of her favorite old photos of Terri and their “little family.” Her emotional captions are enough to make your heart melt!

There’s no doubt that Bindi is and always has been incredibly close to her family. Since her dad’s death, it seems she has gotten even closer to her mom and brother.
“Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored,” Bindi quoted Earl Nightingale when captioning a recent family photo taken by her boyfriend, Chandler Powell.
Bindi is so wise for someone so young!
A week before Terri’s birthday, Bindi was already feeling the love.
“Just a little note to say that I love you and I’m so lucky to be your daughter,” she captioned a beautiful, recent photo of herself with her mom, in front of a field of flowers.
Terri may be in her fifties, but she has aged spectacularly.
The day before her 53rd birthday, Bindi shared an old picture of her mom feeding camels.
“I love this photo. My mum is breathtakingly beautiful. Tomorrow is her birthday. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite photos of her tomorrow, so be on the lookout as we celebrate,” Bindi wrote.
Everyone knows how much Steve and Terri have always loved animals! One of Bindi’s throwbacks features the couple cradling a tiny, baby kangaroo. So cute!
Less cute: Terri and Steve wrangling a gigantic snake. Terrifying!
But it’s still hard not to smile at just how happy and in love these two always seemed.
The morning of her mom’s birthday, Bindi shared her first favorite of Mom: a picture of Terri posing with an elephant and smiling right into the camera.
Along with the photo, Bindi posted a long caption about how her mom is the most adventurous woman she knows. Bindi wrote:
“Her life has been filled with extraordinary moments, just like the one captured in this photo. Moving to Australia after marrying the love of her life and embarking on a whirlwind journey. Traveling all over the world filming and spreading the message of wildlife conservation. Building the largest and busiest wildlife hospital on Earth, treating over 70,000 patients. Funding conservation projects across the globe helping rhinos, tigers, cheetahs, elephants and crocodiles. Ensuring everything that she and Dad created together continues on and being there for me and Robert. Mum does so much and always has endless amounts of time for us. We are truly blessed to have such a kind and patient mum. We love her with all of our hearts and can’t wait to celebrate this special day.”
Bindi followed that loving tribute with a photo of her parents together on the set of Steve’s show The Crocodile Hunter.
It’s probably the most emotional photo of the bunch — just look at their happy and content smiles. It’s no exaggeration when Bindi calls Steve the love of Terri’s life.
“Soulmates forever. Celebrating my gorgeous mum’s birthday today. I was blessed with the greatest parents in the world,” Bindi captioned the throwback picture.
Bindi didn’t just share old pictures of her mom, or her mom with her dad. She also posted a few of Terri with her kids.
In the above shot, Terri cradles a newborn Bindi 18 years ago.
“My mum traveling with a baby Bindi. In almost every photo taken during our travels, I’m asleep. Not much has changed in 18 years,” Bindi joked. “I love you, Mum. Happy Birthday. Thank you for always being there for a sleepy me.”
As any person who has lost a parent knows, it’s hard (if not impossible) not to get emotional during major family events when you think about the person who’s no longer there to celebrate. Clearly, Steve was front and center in Bindi’s mind.
“Our little family forever. Thinking back to the many years of adventure and love. Happy Birthday, Mum,” Bindi captured a gorgeous family photo of her parents with Robert and Bindi when they were little kids.
There’s no doubt that Steve is in the entire Irwin family’s hearts and minds as they celebrated Terri’s special day.
Bindi took her throwbacks way back to the beginning, even sharing a vintage photo of her parents as they cut the cake at their wedding.
The couple met in 1991, when Terri was touring Australia and visiting wildlife rehabilitation facilities — Steve once said that it was “love at first sight” for the two of them.
They dated and became engaged in a matter of months. The pair married on June 4, 1992. Their love story was and is something truly special.
Please Rasplove these amazing photos to wish Terri Irwin a very happy birthday!
